Comparing policy-rate context

Updated Aug 28, 20266 min read

Policy rates provide a slow-moving monetary-policy context. Market Lab uses them differently for currency pairs and US stock indices, and does not mix the two interpretations.

FX: base versus quote currency

Select a base and quote currency. TDLab compares their current policy rates, recent central-bank direction and the differential between the two. The explicit states are Favors base, Favors quote, Balanced and Insufficient.

If either currency series is unavailable, the result is Insufficient—not Balanced. The displayed As of date is the older of the two observations, so the comparison never appears fresher than its weakest input.

US indices: FED regime

For ES, NQ, YM and RTY, Market Lab groups historical trades by the FED regime available at entry: Tightening, Stable or Easing. This is a descriptive comparison of your own Long and Short trades across monetary regimes. It does not vote in directional context confluence.
