Import an MT5 History report

Updated Sep 26, 20264 min read

TDLab imports closed positions from the native MT5 History report. An Orders-only or Deals-only export does not contain the same completed-trade structure.

Required file: MetaTrader 5 HTML or XLSX history report

Choose the matching source in Add trades → File / Report. Upload the original export without renaming columns or changing values.

Export the correct file

  1. Open History

In MetaTrader 5, open Toolbox (View → Toolbox, or Ctrl+T) and select History for the account you want to import.

  2. Choose the period, then Report

Use the Positions history view, right-click inside History and choose the period. Select Report → HTML or Report → Open XML (.xlsx). English is recommended; Italian MT5 position headers are also recognized.

  3. Save the report without editing it

Keep the original columns and values, then upload the HTML or XLSX file in TDLab.

  4. Match the broker server timezone

MT5 reports use the broker server clock, not your computer timezone. Select that timezone and verify the preview against a known execution.

Before you import

Check the account and period and confirm that closed positions include both opening and closing times. The TDLab account currency must match the report currency.

Format and data limitations

Use the original HTML or XLSX Positions history report. Orders-only and Deals-only exports are not equivalent. Commission and debited swap are stored as fees; credited swap increases P&L. Original amounts remain in the source details.

Import it into TDLab

  1. Open the trading account that should receive the trades.
  2. Open Add trades and select File / Report.
  3. Select this exact platform/source and the timezone used by the file timestamps.
  4. Upload the file and compare the time preview with a known execution.
  5. Confirm the import, then check imported and skipped rows in Import History.
