Connecting MetaTrader for FTP auto-sync

Updated Jul 8, 20264 min read

MetaTrader can publish your account statement over FTP, and TDLab can read it automatically. Once set up, your closed trades import on a schedule without any manual export.

Requirements

FTP sync has to be enabled on the TDLab instance. If it isn’t configured, the option shows a note instead of the enable button. Your MetaTrader terminal also has to stay open and connected to keep publishing.

Enable FTP sync in TDLab

  1. Select your MT4 or MT5 account.
  2. Open the Auto-sync tab, enter your account number / login and pick the report timezone.
  3. Click Enable FTP sync. TDLab generates the FTP host, username, password and path to use.

Set up publishing in MetaTrader

  1. Open the Publisher / FTP settings in your MetaTrader terminal.
  2. Enable account statement (report) publishing.
  3. Copy the host, username, password and path from TDLab into the terminal’s FTP fields.
  4. Run the terminal’s FTP test, then keep the terminal open.

Syncing

Once enabled, TDLab checks for a new report automatically on a short interval (roughly every 15 minutes) and imports only new, non-duplicate trades. You can also click Sync now at any time, or Disconnect to stop.

Report language

The MetaTrader report must be in English for TDLab to parse it correctly.
